3D Sand Mold Printers — Binder Jetting Technology
Eliminate dependence on physical patterns and core boxes entirely. With KOCEL AJS series Binder Jetting printers, produce the most complex casting geometries directly from CAD data — at record speeds and zero tooling cost.
Technology
An end-to-end digital production technology that frees the foundry industry from physical constraints. Sand molds and cores are produced directly from digital CAD (STL) files — no physical pattern required.
Why 3D Sand Molding?
Leave behind weeks of pattern manufacturing, high tooling costs, and revision bottlenecks.
Application Areas
The AJS series can produce multiple different part geometries in the same job box simultaneously.
Product Range
From mid-scale prototyping to mega-format series production — the right AJS solution for every foundry capacity.
Mid-Scale
1800×1000×700 mm build volume with dual jobbox system for uninterrupted production. >170 L/h speed. Ideal 3D sand mold printer for pump casings, volutes, small engine blocks, and rapid prototyping.
Mega Scale
800 L/h production speed for large-part series casting. Wind turbine housings, large ship propellers, and heavy equipment components — produced without tooling.
Flagship
1500 L/h — the fastest model in the series. Designed for high-volume automotive, defense, and energy industry components in continuous, tooling-free series production.

Frequently Asked Questions
The system spreads a thin, homogeneous layer of casting sand onto the build platform (recoater). High-resolution industrial inkjet printheads then selectively jet liquid binder (resin) according to the cross-section data from the digital CAD file, bonding the sand. This cycle repeats layer by layer. After printing, unbound loose sand is sieved and recovered automatically, yielding a high-strength sand mold ready for direct liquid metal casting.
AJS1800A: Ideal for medium-to-large scale parts such as pump casings, volutes, and small engine blocks, as well as rapid prototyping requirements. AJS2500 & AJS4000: Mega systems designed for the continuous, tooling-free series production of massive wind turbine housings, large ship propellers, heavy equipment chassis, and high-volume automotive/defense components. Multiple different part geometries can be printed in the same job box simultaneously.
No. The KOCEL AJS series is specifically designed and built for heavy-duty foundry conditions. The precision mechanical rails, ball screws, motors, and printhead architecture are equipped with high-performance seals and protective enclosures that completely prevent dust ingress. Integrated automatic lubrication and constant-temperature fluid control systems ensure stable 24/7 operation even in harsh production environments.
The inorganic binder option eliminates organic VOC emissions and odors from the foundry entirely — a critical advantage for worker health and compliance with strict environmental regulations. Additionally, unused free sand is recovered at rates up to 90% through integrated sieving systems, reducing consumable costs significantly.
