The Bettersizer ST measures particle sizes from 0.1 µm to 1,000 µm using laser diffraction. This range covers fine sub-micron fractions through to coarse powders, meeting the requirements of most industrial quality control applications.

DLOS (Dual Lens Optical System) is a patented optical architecture developed by Bettersize Instruments. Two large Fourier lenses capture forward, lateral, and back-scattered light simultaneously from a single laser. This effectively doubles the detected scatter signal, improving resolution for fine particles and increasing measurement reliability compared to conventional single-lens designs.

The Bettersizer ST complies with ISO 13320 (Particle Size Analysis by Laser Diffraction) and current European and US Pharmacopoeia requirements. The software generates automated analysis reports formatted to these standards.

Standard operating procedures are defined once in the software. Every subsequent measurement runs automatically using the same parameters, sequence, and report format. This minimises operator input, reduces procedural errors, and improves batch-to-batch repeatability.

Sample cells are removable without special tools. The automated tank-cleaning routine is triggered from within the software. The anti-dry protection prevents ultrasonic disperser damage if the circulation tank runs without liquid. The cast base plate and stainless steel circulation tank are built for demanding factory environments.

The Bettersizer ST is a compact, cost-effective instrument focused on laser diffraction QC from 0.1–1,000 µm. It does not include a shape analysis module. The Bettersizer 2600 Plus offers a wider range (0.02–3,500 µm), an optional PIC-1 shape analysis module measuring 24 parameters, and dry dispersion options — targeting research and advanced R&D applications.
