Notched Impact Testing Machines (Charpy / Izod)
Five capacity options from 150J to 750J for measuring fracture toughness and impact energy of metals with the highest accuracy. Zero-friction frontal teeth coupling and motorized automatic pendulum re-arming deliver reliable data every test and maximum operator safety.
Core Technology
Mechanical losses from conventional clutch systems compromise measurement accuracy. The Impact Series eliminates this problem entirely with frontal teeth coupling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The Impact series fully complies with ISO 148-1, ASTM E23, GOST 9454, JIS Z 2242, and EN standards. Standard selection is made directly on the HMI touchscreen; separate calibration for different test norms is not required. Modular striker and anvil sets allow quick switching between Charpy and Izod configurations.
Instead of conventional clutch mechanisms, frontal teeth coupling is used. This system eliminates mechanical contact during the pendulum swing. Impact energy is measured directly by a 0.1° resolution optical encoder integrated at the pivot axis — the result is absorbed energy data free of friction losses.
In conventional systems, raising the pendulum is manual and requires operator intervention after every test. The Impact series motorized mechanism completes this step automatically in under 9 seconds. In production labs running 50–100 specimens per day, this difference meaningfully increases hourly test capacity.
150J or 300J is sufficient for standard steel and alloy quality control and educational applications. 450J is recommended for automotive sheet steels, structural steels, and forgings. 600J suits pipeline, marine, and heavy-industry applications; 750J is the choice for armour steels and aerospace alloys. In Charpy testing, the specimen is supported horizontally at both ends and struck at the notched midpoint — compliant with ISO 148-1 and ASTM E23. In Izod testing, the specimen is clamped vertically at one end. Both methods measure the absorbed impact energy (toughness); the choice depends on the product standard and customer specification.
Yes. The Impact Series supports optional heating/cooling bath accessories that condition specimens to specified temperatures (e.g., −60°C or +200°C) before Charpy/Izod testing. Contact Anka Analitik for details on temperature conditioning integration.
