Automated Powder Characterization Instrument
The PowderPro A1 is a fully automated powder characterization instrument combining smart Wi-Fi control, high-resolution CCD image processing, and patented 3D electromagnetic vibration technology. It measures 11 parameters including angle of repose, bulk density, and Carr index — fully compliant with ISO 3953, USP, and Ph. Eur.
CCD + Patented Vibration Technology
The high-resolution CCD camera instantly photographs the powder surface; the automatic image recognition algorithm determines angle of repose, angle of fall, and spatula angle with high repeatability. The patented rotary vibration system creates a homogeneous, level powder surface before every measurement.
Software
Complete automation via Wi-Fi from PC or mobile app. SOP mode standardizes the test workflow, ensuring GMP-compliant record management and cross-laboratory consistency.
Applications
Frequently Asked Questions
Automatically measured parameters: angle of repose, angle of fall, spatula angle, bulk density, tapped density, dispersibility, voidage, and cohesion. Automatically calculated parameters: angle of difference, compressibility (Carr index), uniformity, flowability index, floodability index (Hausner ratio), and sieve size. All 11 parameters are obtained in a single measurement run.
In manual measurement, the operator estimates the powder cone angle visually or with a protractor — a method that introduces high operator-dependent variability. The PowderPro A1's CCD camera instantly captures the powder surface and the image recognition algorithm calculates the angle automatically. The result is operator-independent, reproducible, and fully documentable measurement data.
The variable-frequency rotary vibration system is adjustable from 50 to 300 taps per minute. Combined with selectable 3 mm or 14 mm amplitude, the cylinder rotation motion creates a horizontal, homogeneous powder surface before each measurement. This approach produces more repeatable tapped density results compared to conventional vertical-drop tapping mechanisms.
Yes. A separate SOP profile can be defined for each product or material, specifying the test sequence, vibration parameters, and acceptance criteria. The operator simply loads the sample, starts the system, and retrieves the result. Cross-contamination and operator-induced variation between products are prevented in GMP environments.
The PowderPro A1 is fully compliant with ISO 3953:1993 (tapped density), USP 32-NF27, and Ph. Eur. 7.0 (07/2010:20934E). These standards define international measurement references for tapped density, bulk density, and powder flowability parameters used in pharmaceutical quality control and industrial process development.
