Induction Fusion System

Equilab
FX Series

Induction Technology ±1°C Optical Pyrometer XRF + ICP/AAS Built-in Exhaust CE Certified

The Equilab FX Series generates heat directly inside the Pt/Au crucible via electromagnetic induction. With ±1°C optical pyrometer control and 3–11 minute fusion times, it produces homogeneous glass discs for XRF and fully dissolved solutions for ICP/AAS — no external gas, fume hood, or special infrastructure required.

Equilab FX — Induction Fusion Process, Pt/Au Crucible

Heat Generated
Directly in the Crucible

An alternating current in the coil creates a magnetic field that induces Foucault (eddy) currents in the Pt/Au crucible. These currents convert to heat via the Joule effect. No external heating element — heat loss to the environment is minimal.

🌡
±1°C Optical Pyrometer Control
Measures infrared radiation from the crucible base without contact. No calibration required; measurement accuracy does not drift over time. 99%+ reproducibility: sample 1 and sample 1,000 receive identical thermal profiles.
👁
Open-Window Full Visibility
The fusion process is monitored in real time. Color change, bubble reduction, viscosity, and homogenization are directly observable. New fusion recipes are optimized in 1–2 runs.
🛡
5+ Year Ceramic Holder Reliability
The holder reaches only ~220°C — no thermal shock occurs. Service life exceeds 5 years. Annual holder cost remains in the €300–700 range.

Common Questions

Typically 3–11 minutes depending on the sample type. Cement requires 5–7 minutes, iron ore 7–10 minutes, and ferroalloys 7–10 minutes. Because the system reaches target temperature instantly, there is no warm-up waiting time.

No. The built-in mini exhaust system with HEPA and activated carbon filters handles sample vapours internally. External installation is optional, not mandatory. The unit operates on a standard laboratory bench.

Yes. By selecting the appropriate program, the system can pour a homogeneous 30–35 mm glass disc for XRF, or dispense the melt directly into HNO₃ or HCl solution for ICP/AAS. Both outputs are obtained from the same instrument with a program change.

Because the holder reaches only ~220°C, there is no thermal shock. Service life exceeds 5 years — far longer than the 500–800°C holder temperatures of gas-fired systems. Annual holder cost stays in the €300–700 range.

Yes. The ±1°C optical pyrometer control and open-window observation allow full monitoring of the oxidation process. FeCr, FeMn, FeV, FeMo, FeTi, and FeSi samples are prepared with 99%+ homogeneity. The oxidation stage (P1) is controlled directly from the software.

No. A standard 230V/16A outlet and a standard laboratory bench are sufficient. Installation takes 5 minutes. No external specialist, gas connection, reinforced flooring, or dedicated ventilation engineering is required.
