Complete instrument range for bulk density, tapped density, angle of repose, flowability and helium pycnometry. Direct measurement solutions for pharmaceutical, ceramic, food and metal powder applications.

In pharmaceutical, ceramic, food and metal powder industries, characterization of raw materials and intermediates is essential for process control and product quality. Incorrect density or flowability data leads to dosage errors, compaction problems and increased waste.
Bettersize powder characterization instruments measure these parameters according to standards, with repeatability and speed. Multiple parameters can be obtained on a single platform.
Purpose-built instruments for every measurement need. ISO, USP and Ph.Eur. compliant.

Determines 11 powder flowability parameters in a single measurement: bulk density, tapped density, angle of repose, Carr index, Hausner ratio and sieve analysis.

Measures true density by helium gas displacement. Delivers accurate results even in closed-pore materials. Suitable for pharmaceutical and advanced material applications.

Automated tapped density analyzer. Determines tapped density and compressibility index according to ISO 787-11, USP <616> and Ph.Eur. 2.9.34.

Angle of repose analyzer for direct measurement of powder flowability. Determines static and dynamic angle of repose via automated camera analysis.

Basic and advanced bulk density solutions with BeDensi B1, B1-S and P models. Manual and automated filling options available.

Measures powder flow time and flow rate index using Hall and Carney funnel methods. Industry-standard method for metal powder and pharmaceutical applications.
The right measurement method varies depending on application requirements.

Cathode and anode powder characterization, electrode density quality control.
Quality assurance and process optimization for powder raw materials.
Bulk density is the apparent density calculated based on the volume occupied when powder is poured freely. Tapped density is the compressed density after a defined number of mechanical taps. The difference between these two values gives the Carr index and Hausner ratio, which classify the powder's flowability.
Helium penetrates both open and closed pores due to its very small molecular size. This property enables accurate measurement of the true solid-phase density, including micropores that other gases cannot access. It is a critical method particularly for pharmaceutical APIs and porous ceramics.
Angle of repose is sufficient as a quick flowability indicator in routine quality control. However, for critical processes such as formulation development, compaction optimization or storage behavior, it should be evaluated alongside bulk/tapped density, Carr index and, where needed, Hall flow testing. PowderPro A1 provides all these parameters in a single measurement.
BeDensi T Pro focuses exclusively on tapped and bulk density measurement — a dedicated instrument meeting ISO 787-11, USP <616> and Ph.Eur. 2.9.34. PowderPro A1 is a multi-parameter system that automatically measures 11 parameters including angle of repose, sieve analysis and Carr index. Choose BeDensi T Pro if only density measurements are required; choose PowderPro A1 for comprehensive powder characterization.
